An almost empty stage – white floor with raised edges and a grey back wall – is during sixty minutes ground for an enormous deal of theatricality. There is paint in multiple colours, confetti, uncooked spaghetti, an extreme fysicality and intense emotions. No doubt about it: this is theatre!
The five performers seem to look for a way to express their feelings - all the while looking at the audience with a scrutinizing look or rolling eyes, as if they want to say: hey, look at me! Although each performer seems to speak another language, they copy each other’s movements too. Is there interaction?, I wonder. On the one hand, there certainly is, on the other hand it seems to be a matter of ‘together and yet alone’.
The performer’s quest now and then results in very beautiful, powerful images. And sometimes the performance makes me laugh out loud. But it is a feeling of loneliness that remains.
This is theatre to the max! And I fully enjoyed it.
