A personal EIM aftertalk @Springdance Flirt

My great apologies for I am really ashamed to have such a delay for writing this post. I found it really difficult to translate our conversation (with Maria of Spring Flirt, see my previous post EIM for me). However, to continue with my earlier post about the first day of Europe in Motion I promised in my previous posts that I will write about my personal aftertalk @Springdance Flirt. Altough it is almost a week… Continue

Rosas never stops dancing!

That's the spririt I received during the entire performance!

In the year that I was born 1983, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker performed her piece Rosas danst Rosas in Théâtre de la Balsamine in Brussel. Now 25 years later doing a rerun of her groundbreaking work in a fully booked Stadsschouwburg of Utrecht. It is funny how people's mind work; you simply don't know. This rerun attracted even more visitors than the opening of Lutz Förster, can you… Continue

A glimpse of Spring Flirt 2009

With special thanks to Maria Mavridou and all who were in the video!

Spring Flirt's rules:

- start a 'flirt' conversation about whatever you like with one of the 'Flirters' (they sit behind the table)

- the 'Flirters' will write down some keywords on a post-it which are popping up during the 'flirt'

- react or give feedback on those words

- the 'Flirters' will improvise some movements based on your the post-its, your words and your… Continue

Europe In Motion for me

Europe In Motion: "12 young choreographers, three partners, three countries, two moderators, five days of dialogue and four nights of presentations." A very interesting new concept of developing new talent during Springdance. This sounds pretty promising to me, the title associates me of innovation, inspiration, understanding, new, moving, experimental and future.

And yes indeed it was. Up until now I followed this European Motion every… Continue

Let your voice speak in the Locus Amönus

Perfect, wouldn’t it be if we could just say what’s in our heart.

Perfect, wouldn’t it be if we could just say what’s on our mind.

Perfect, wouldn’t it be if we could just feel what’s in our soul.

And perfectly it is when someone listen to it.

Locus Amönus; literally the Latin word for "pleasant place". It generally refers to an idealized place of safety and confort. The White Horse Collective founded the… Continue

Bruno Beltrão; Artistic urban at its best

Israel Galván the "dadaist" of flamenco

Thus says Merel de Kok, one of the Oracles of Springdance, after watching Solo Israel Galván choreographed by the man himself.

Entering the Blauwe zaal of the Stadsschouwburg, we are facing a stage with a background of big long windows. Artificial lightening is almost not needed because natural exposure came through the windows.

The stage is accompanied solely by a chair and… Continue

Kick-off Springdance 2009

Opening day one was excited for all who is working, dancing, visiting and sponsoring the Springdance festival.

As the streaming of people is dripping in to the Stadsschouwburg of Utrecht, outside on the spring-y , green grass, two red bodies are moving around. By-passer, bikers and shopping crowd were definitely attracted by these two dancers. They were moving between the crowd and the bikes, from indoor to outdoor through the hallway to outdoor again, to the balcony. The atmosphere… Continue

Pre-Springdance 2009 #1

While googling in Google Earth for Biltstraat 166, the time is running for the first briefing for Reporters. As I am very excited to meet people interested in New Media and dance, this is perfectly matching my work of interest. There is definitely no lack of enthusiasm.
